Today I have the pleasure of Speaking with Karla M. Gutierrez, A Psychic Medium from Tampa, Florida.
She not only offers psychic and mediumship readings but energy healing as well, which I've always found fascinating!
Anyway, Karla - thank you very much for taking time out of your busy schedule to chat with me today, let's cut to the chase and get started!
- Tell us about yourself, please!
Hello everyone! I am Karla Gutierrez and never would have expected to do this as a full-time career, ever! My goal was to be a rock star from the time I was 4. I got my first electric guitar at the age of 10 and started playing in bands at 14. I was also the lead vocalist.
I started playing in clubs at 18 and went out on the road soon after, that was my dream and really what I always expected to be doing for a living! I also started and stopped a lot of schooling. I couldn’t decide and switched from Criminology, Architecture, Photography, I finally received and completed an AA Degree in Commercial Art. I ended up doing Graphic Design as a career for over 25 years! I was the office Psychic in most of the places where I worked. I didn’t hide my abilities and people would come to me for answers and with questions of course.
I have been doing readings since I was a child, even when I wasn’t aware that I was doing readings. I knew I had abilities from as far back as I can remember. It runs in my family. Typical conversation was about reincarnation, talking to spirits, seeing spirits, the mystical and magickal! I was initiated into the Rosicrucian’s at 13 years old. My father is a 33rd Degree Mason. The mystical is well ingrained in my family lineage and many mediums and Spiritualists came prior. I am also an Eclectic Witch and a Reiki Master in many different types of Reiki, and a Quantum Touch Practitioner.
- When did you first realize you had special abilities?
My life as a medium started as a young child. Even then, I sensed that I was not like other people, as I grew older I realized I was very different than most people and even different from other “sensitives”. As long as I can remember, I’ve lived my life with one foot in the physical world and one foot in the spiritual world.
At the age of five, I was fortunate enough to meet a little girl who became my close friend. Her mother was a woman named Rose, a very gifted medium among many other things. Rose became my first spiritual teacher and advisor on my journey as a medium. Our two families became very close and our parents became the best of friends and we are all family. I’m forever grateful for Rose because she taught and helped me so much. It wasn’t easy, I had so many crazy things happen to me and they still do!
- When did you realize it was your calling, and what inspired you to start your business?
I finally started my fulltime spiritual business after I was laid off my last job as a Senior Graphic Designer many years ago. When it’s time, the universe will push you and make it so there is no other option! Try as I might, I could not find another Graphic Design job. My spirit guides just did not allow it, and I looked for 2 years while doing readings and doing freelance graphic design work. It just never dawned on me to do this as a career, to start an actual business, and to register as an LLC.
My wife encouraged me and told me I should be doing readings fulltime and that I wasn’t going to land another design gig because “they” would not let me, this is what I should be doing. She is the one who got me to do this, not just as a side gig, but my main gig! Now, I do readings for people all over the world! I am an international Psychic Medium. This is the short version!
- What is the most popular type of reading with those you help?
My most popular type of reading is mediumship! I am a medium, I have always been a medium, and have always connected to those on the other side. When someone tells me that I have helped them more in 1 hour then 10 years of therapy, that is HUGE!
- For you, what is the most DIFFICULT part about being a psychic medium?
I am a physical medium. That means I physically feel what has happened to a soul when I am doing a reading, or when I am in a place that is “active”. Example, if a person was shot, I feel that impact and it is disturbing! This is one of the ways my gift works and I have learned to live with it since I was little, it can be difficult. It’s difficult for me to “stay” completely in the physical world.
I’ve been told by shamans and high priestesses that I don’t really want to be in my body. A piece of me is often out helping others or learning in another dimension, so I frequently feel disconnected. Other mediums have advised me to shut down, close up, and set boundaries so this doesn’t happen. It hasn’t been easy, but I’ve learned how to function this way. What many other mediums don ‘t understand, even after I tell them, is that I do all those things, this is why I say I’m different even among my peers and people like me. This is my normal and it has been that way ever since I can remember.
- How have things changed for you during the pandemic, and how have you adjusted
Well, I have worked from home for many years so that did not change! What I did change was no in person readings, only video calls and phone. There is no difference, and you don’t have to be in the same room. I can do my thing just the same!
Being the way I am, and feeling so deeply both from the souls on the other side to the living people on the planet, and the Earth itself, it has been a challenge energetically and blocking the anxiety and fear of others has been hard because it is just coming from everywhere.
- Any final words of wisdom or parting thoughts for our readers in these trying times?
Short and sweet! This has been difficult for everyone and if you made it this far, you should applaud yourself! We are in the beginning stages of one of the biggest collective awakenings ever seen in the history of humankind.
I know my fellow mediums and psychics know this and we have to remember, we are all connected!
