Today I have the great pleasure of speaking with Emphathic Intuitive, Mystic Mandy (AKA Mandy Peterson).
Mandy is a psychic visionary, empathic intuitive, and EFT Practitioner!
Mandy is also the author of the book I Am the Lotus, Not the Muddy Pond: Achieving Peace Through Non-Conformity.
That being said, I'm VERY excited to be chatting with her today! Mandy, thank you VERY much for taking time out of your busy schedule to speak with me, let's get started, shall we?
Tell us about yourself, please!
I guess I’m known for being an environmentalist, artistic, intuitive, and lover of nature, pets, and animals. I’ve always been empathic, and as a child it caused me to be quite social phobic and shy. I found it hard to talk to people and still have issues today (though I’m now a lot less shy). When I was younger (and because I was so shy), I mainly watched people and the stories they were telling (energetically or otherwise). It taught me a lot about human psychology. So, this shaped a large part of who I am and how I read.
It looks like you specialize in empathetic readings, can you explain what that is and how that works?
With an empathic reading I focus mainly on what I pick up emotionally from other people. Thus, with readings I give, I answer questions involving what people are thinking and feeling and the emotional dynamics going on with a relationship. I use cards in my readings too, but how I read the cards largely involves tuning into what is happening at a psychological level or helping those who approach me to make decisions about a relationship (such as whether to persist with it or let go).
When did you know that it was your calling, and what inspired you to start offering these services professionally?
I guess I knew after my sister got me a Motherpiece Tarot Deck. I started giving readings to friends and then they started referring their friends for paid readings. So, it kind of came to me rather than my pursuing it. I was so shy back then, however, that I took some courses in coaching and something called “Energy Psychology” to help me feel more confident. I didn’t know Energy Psychology involved healing (it is another name for EFT), but it was this course that kind of led me down the EFT path.
Prior to going down the intuitive/alternative healing path I was trying to make a career as a fine artist, portrait artist, and greeting card designer. As I moved more into giving readings, I moved away from artistic endeavors. It is in the last few years that I have be able to repursue these interests in a new way.
What is the most popular type of reading with customers?
The most popular type of reading I offer involves helping people understand the psychology of their partner or relationship. Many times (but not all), people just want to know if their feelings are reciprocated, or why someone who expressed a lot of interest suddenly disappeared or is acting disinterested.
I am also commonly approached to read situations where there is an off-and-on type of relationship. There is often the desire to know what a love interest is thinking (if they are missing them). They may wonder why this love interest hasn’t reached out or if the relationship will be “on” again.
You're also an EFT practitioner, could you share more about what that is, please?
EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) is a form of alternative healing that uses the meridian system, acupressure techniques (known as “tapping”), and set-up statements to release pain or emotions.
So, within a session, a practitioner would have their client focus on a key issue or emotion while “tapping” (physically or energetically) specific acupressure points to help release it. Because this form of healing involves using set up statements and employs muscle testing, it is better if the person seeking a session has a specific issue to focus on (as opposed to something too general).
This issue can be used to create set-up statements to “tap” through. One can also employ muscle-testing to detect blocks to releasing the issue, which these blocks can be formulated in their own set-up statements to tap through.
How have things changed for you during the pandemic, and how have you adjusted?
Luckily, I’ve been blessed to have the means to support myself and I’m trying not to take anything for granted. I’m more conscious of how we are accountable for the scenarios that arise. I’ve also been studying a lot of history, as a result of seeing certain patterns from the past repeating.
As an environmentalist, I’ve felt impacted too. In part, I’m hopeful for some of the changes I see coming but also concerned. I see that the same corporations, tech giants, and governments which are the greatest polluters and enablers of environmental destruction are putting themselves in charge of solving these issues. But this is what most of us through our passivity or helplessness are indirectly (or directly) asking them to do.
Any final words of wisdom or parting thoughts for our readers in these trying times?
I guess I would impart how important it is right now to take care of children, animals, and nature right now, in a more conscious way.
I really feel that we can heal the world if we can come out of a mindset of only thinking of what serves us in the short-term and, instead, begin thinking of the world we want our children to inherit.
