Today I have the great pleasure of speaking with Charla Acker, A Psychic Medium with quite a unique and historical story!
Charla, thank you VERY much for taking time out of your busy schedule to chat with me today. As I understand it, there is currently a 12-month wait for potential clients to schedule a reading with you, so I GREATLY appreciate your time!
That said, let's get started!
- When did you first realize you had unique abilities?
When I was a child I attended Memorial School which was also known as Collinwood School in Cleveland Ohio. This school was the scene of one of the worst school fires in history (also known as the Lake View School fire). The fire, which occurred on Ash Wednesday, March 4, 1908, was one of the deadliest disasters of its type in the United States. The tragedy resulted in the deaths of 172 students, two teachers and a rescuer.
In 1910, a new school was constructed directly next to the site of Lake View Elementary School. The new school was named Collinwood Memorial. Next door, and on top of the site of the old school, a Memorial Garden was built. I often played in the Memorial Garden with my sister when I was a child. That is when I first became aware that I could see and feel the spirit. I would see the children who died in the fire while playing in the garden. One dark-haired boy continuously appeared to me even today.
As I grew up, I continued to have visions and talk to people that others could not see, I thought everyone could, it seemed perfectly normal to me.
- When did you know that it was your calling, and what inspired you to start your business?
I am not sure there was a particular moment, it just kind of evolved over time. My business just exploded and the more I saw how much healing and closure was taking place from people that were in true pain, it was kind of a no-brainer. I knew that I had to assist and help anyway I could.
- What is the best part about being a psychic medium?
I think getting to see a snapshot of my client’s life, their pain, and heartache, it has made me a very compassionate person. It has made me understand we all carry something. I love the fact that I can possibly help in healing someone. Maybe being able to bring joy back into their lives and they can find peace again.
- What is the hardest part about being a psychic medium?
I think the hardest part for me is the stereotype. People feel your crazy, nuts they expect you to be walking around with a crystal ball or they expect you to have all the answers, I absolutely do not have all the answers. I am still a human being living a human life making terrible choices all the time. It can also make you feel isolated or alone at times. You must have very thick skin to do this work.
- What is the most popular type of reading with customers?
Mediumship for sure. People need to know that their loved ones are ok, and that perhaps there is something more out there.
- How have things changed for you during the pandemic, and how have you adjusted?
Honestly not much, I continue to see my clients, via zoom, Facetime and phone. I do miss the in-person readings because I really love the personal feel it brings, but as long as I am able to still work with Spirit and do my job it’s all good.
- What do you love the most about what you do?
EVERYTHING! I can say I truly love me job! I love being able to make someone laugh, & experience joy again. When people come to me, they are really broken or lost, being able to show them happiness again, to help them understand that they on their own have the power to heal and grow & helping someone overcome grief. How can that not be amazing!
- Any final words of wisdom or parting thoughts for our readers in these trying times?
Yes, have compassion for people and be kind to one each other. We really do not know what someone might be carrying with them, the struggles people face that may be small to others but are huge to them. I find by just being kind, saying thank you, or giving someone a compliment can possibly change someone’s life.
